SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Chloe Cloud & Alexandria Olthoff
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Chloe Cloud & Alexandria Olthoff\nOpening Reception | First Friday April 3rd\, 2026 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through April 19th\, 2026.\nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nCHLOE CLOUD \nI am an interdisciplinary studio artist and graphic designer based in Wichita\, Kansas\, working across mediums to question how we assign value—what we cherish\, what we overlook\, and what we throw away. \nThis body of work began not in the studio\, but on quiet walks through my small college neighborhood. I started picking up scraps of litter—shards of plastic\, faded fabric\, fragments of packaging—with the simple intention of cleaning up my community. But somewhere between the sidewalk and my doorstep\, my perspective shifted. Among the refuse were unexpected colors\, compelling textures\, and strangely elegant forms. What I first dismissed as trash began to reveal itself as material—full of potential\, history\, and character. \nI became fascinated by the tension between discard and desire. How might I challenge the narrative of worthlessness attached to these objects? How could I elevate what had been abandoned? \nIn response\, I began pairing found debris with thoughtfully curated vintage clippings. By manipulating scale and employing optical illusion\, I transform these fragments into imagined fashions\, theatrical silhouettes\, and expansive landscapes. A scrap of plastic becomes couture. A twist of wire becomes architecture. A fragment of packaging becomes terrain. Through collage and assemblage\, the overlooked is recast as aspirational\, playful\, and powerful. \nThese small rubbish sculptures have redefined my creative practice. They invite me to slow down\, to notice\, and to honor the overlooked. What began as an act of cleanup has become an act of re-seeing—finding beauty in what was once discarded and joy in the act of transformation. \nSee more of Chloe’s work on Instagram: @wasted.wonderings and @chloecloud.design \nALEXANDRIA OLTHOFF \nI am a full-time artist\, born and raised here\, shaped by both staying and leaving. I’ve lived in and moved through places around the world\, but my work has always been about coming back to myself—my instincts\, my values\, my anger\, my softness\, and my truth. \nI am celebrating! I am also tired as hell and looking for a new life balance while on a journey of diving in\, learning and growing. \nEvery piece here comes from a portfolio I built over two years of obsessive focus\, discipline\, doubt\, and stubborn belief. This is the work that got me my tattoo apprenticeship. It didn’t happen by accident. It happened because I showed up over and over again and refused to quit. This exhibition is both a celebration and a threshold: honoring the discipline and devotion that brought me here\, while opening the door to a new direction in my creative life. \nAnimals show up again and again in my work because they don’t lie. They carry power\, vulnerability\, protection\, survival\, and instinct without apology. Alongside them live themes of justice\, acceptance\, feminism\, queerness\, and representation. Sometimes my work is an open heart. Sometimes it’s a middle finger. Often it’s both. \nI make art to say the things I don’t always have words for. To share my inner world. To carve space for softness\, rage\, humor\, grief\, desire\, and a very clear fuck you / fuck it / fuck all when needed. Anything gay\, anything defiant\, anything honest belongs here. \nTattooing is not a departure from my art practice—it’s an evolution. I’m not abandoning painting or creating. I’m expanding. I continue to accept custom work and pet portraits\, now with longer timelines as my schedule shifts. \nI dance when I can. I travel the world with my husband. I disappear into home when I need to. All of it feeds the work. All of it shows up here. \nThis show is about persistence\, transformation\, and choosing myself—again and again—until it finally paid off. \nSee more of Alexandria’s work online: linktr.ee/alexandriaolthoff\, on Instagram: @alikatart7\, and on Facebook: @AlikatArtBiz \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Brooke Schutte & Deber
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Brooke Schutte & Deber\nOpening Reception | First Friday March 6th\, 2026 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through March 22nd\, 2026.\nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nBROOKE SCHUTTE \nMy name is Brooke\, I am a 25 year old artist originally from Colorado. I was raised in a very strict\, dominating\, and isolating religion and have struggled with a complicated relationship with interpersonal connection\, mental health\, and generally society as a whole. Very early on in my childhood\, I found a voice in art. More so\, a purpose as well. The people around me didn’t want to hear me speak\, they didn’t value my voice.. But the pretty picture I drew – that was considered valuable. \nAs I grew older and experienced life in a more raw and unfiltered way\, I realized art was no longer what I thought it was: Realism\, landscapes\, still lifes. Art could be edgy\, it could be problematic\, and it could make my mom very uncomfortable. \nBeing a self taught artist\, I never identified with one genre or medium. Rather\, I always just pursued what spoke to me at the time. \nFor this show\, I chose to speak on mental illness and addiction. Something that in recent years has been at the forefront of my life. When conceptualizing this show\, my idea was to keep the subject matter light and playful – humorous and easy on the eye. Exploring the juxtaposition between a sensitive topic like alcoholism or PTSD\, while displaying it with bright vibrant\, even whimsical imagery. \nI stuck with two mediums\, marker and acrylic but did not necessarily commit to one style or point of view. I’d like to think my voice and personal method speaks clearly through each piece. And hopefully the audience will be intrigued to divulge into introspection while they view the work. \nSee more of Brooke’s work on Instagram: @masticated.gum \nDEBER \nMy work centers on compositions that blend traditional realism\, abstract expressionism and letterform abstraction. Mix media as a preference: Acrylics\, Oil\, Enamel mixtures\, Spray paint and Airbrush are used to create layered compositions that evoke emotion\, movement\, and tension. \nA core focus of my work lies in bridging the worlds of professional muralism\, portrait painting\, fine arts and Graffiti. \nMy canvas work serves as an extension of my street practice\, offering a different format through which to explore similar ideas with nuance. For me\, art is not a means to an end\, it is the end itself. Through each piece\, I invite the viewer into the emotional landscape and visual rhythms that define my voice as a well rounded contemporary artist. \nSee more of Deber’s work on Instagram: @deber614 and on Facebook: @deber614 \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Amy Herrmann & Samantha Gales
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Amy Herrmann & Samantha Gales\nOpening Reception | First Friday February 6th\, 2026 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through February 22nd\, 2026. Art House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nAMY HERRMANN \nReflections of a Life\, Well … Lived. \nI’m not an easy person to know. I’ve never mastered the art of small talk and have trouble shaking off the world news of the day. But my art usually centers around more optimistic glimpses of beauty that I find in the shadows and reflections of my surroundings when my guard is down and I’m content (often when sunshine and beer are involved). There’s nothing particularly deep about the subjects or themes in any of my work. They’re mostly snippets of my immediate surroundings\, usually with my loved ones just out of view. I’ll never be a serious portrait artist\, a fact that has been reinforced by the laughter emanating from my family at my recent attempts to capture them in pastels. \nI received my BFA at KSU. I work mostly in soft pastels and acrylic paint. I use only my own photographs as source material. I used to feel guilty about applying filters to my source photos but that has ceased after seeing how AI is changing the entire art world. Still not sure if I’ll embrace it or fight it tooth and nail\, but I guess that’s a discussion for another day. For now\, I lean on a few digital conveniences to make choices about composition and color. I enjoy making decisions about how much texture to add and with what material can best achieve an effect. \nThis show has pieces that span about 35 years\, though most have been finished in the past 5. Not much has changed from my early work\, same fascination with what might be revealed in a window’s reflections\, what it feels like to brush my hand along chipped paint\, delighting when I see glass that’s old\, wavy\, and imperfect. I’ll leave it to the viewer to decide if these represent a life well-lived\, or a life\, well…lived. \nSee more of Amy’s work on Facebook: @amy.herrmann.art \nSAMANTHA GALES \nTwenty-Six \nSam Gales is a mixed media artist based in Wichita\, Kansas. She specializes in illustrative\, stylized self-portraits that explore her journey as a young adult. Her Twenty-six series brings together both new works and earlier pieces that reflect her playful\, lighthearted nature. Across her practice\, Gales is drawn to the delicate balance between the macabre and the bright—creating imagery that is at once fun\, playful\, and subtly unsettling. In this series she does touch on some heavier themes\, so viewer discretion is advised. \nAn age that most should be expecting change\, and big events. Twenty six; one should be focusing on financial security\, finding a stable job and starting a retirement fund\, possibly a 401k. Twenty six; looking forward to the future! \nBut wait… No. \nThat’s not fair. I didn’t even get a chance. Why’s everything falling apart? Why is everyone leaving? Everyone’s moving away…well\, we’re adults aren’t we? I’m so behind\, I can’t keep up. Nothing feels like it’s ever enough. \nThat’s life\, they say.\nGrow up\, stop crying.\nPeople age\, everyone’s dying.\nLife’s hard and everyone struggles\nBut why does it feel like my workload always doubles?\nIt’s hard to stay afloat when the goal post is ever changing.\nAnd seeing my peers soaring only makes me regret my aging. \nI use humor to distract from my reality\, that being Twenty-six isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. \nAs I navigate my way through this difficult year\, here’s to hoping\nTwenty-seven\nDoesn’t end in a pap smear \nSee more of Samantha’s work online at samgales0279.wixsite.com/gales-art\, on Instagram: @gales_art_\, and on Facebook: @samawesomegales \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Dominique Joiner & Angie Evans
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Dominique Joiner & Angie Evans\nOpening Reception | First Friday December 5th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through December 21st\, 2025. \nDOMINIQUE JOINER \nDominique Joiner (b 1988 Wichita\, Kansas) uses her chosen mediums of acrylic and oils to identify the experience of women in a male dominated society. Dominique has observed the lives of many women from several walks of life and uses the influence of these women to relay her narrative. She uses the ideals of sensuality and affection to draw the viewer in and coaxes them to become more aware with riveting details and underlying messages. Dominique has a goal of pressing women to gain more ipseity\, regardless of the rhetoric they are taught to the contrary. \nIpseity starts with awareness\, the doorway to change. Many of the artist’s paintings directly depict the chosen problem\, with no offer of a solution\, forcing the viewer to digest and relate. The use of golden accents is meant to show a sense of majesty and divinity that women carry\, regardless of the situation\, be it vulnerable or powerful. As the gateway to life\, women deserve to be viewed as such. Dominique’s art will encourage individuals to search inwardly and come to peace with their feelings. \nSee more of Dominique’s work on Facebook: @DomiiiJo\, on Instagram: @domiijo\, and on TikTok: @domiijo \nANGIE EVANS \nI am an ocean-lover at heart\, forever captivated by the calm and power of the sea\, yet living in a land-locked state that makes me long for its presence. This new body of work is my way of reconnecting with that feeling of peace and renewal that only the ocean brings. Each piece is an exploration of rhythm and stillness\, created through layers of acrylic\, ink\, and resin that echo the slow movement of waves and the reflective shimmer of sunlight on water. \nAs the resident artist and owner of Art House 310\, this series marks my first complete body of work in nearly three years\, and it feels like a return to self. After a hiatus to complete college degrees that were started more than two decades ago and focus on uplifting other local artists within the walls of Art House 310\, I wanted to explore capturing the essence of the ocean\, not as a place\, but as a state of being. The soft blues\, teals\, and whites drift together to create a sense of depth and serenity\, offering a space for both reflection and calm. My process is intuitive\, guided by emotion and memory rather than structure\, allowing the materials to move naturally and form the patterns of flow that remind me of tides and shifting sands. \nEach painting invites the viewer to pause\, breathe\, and feel the quiet strength of the sea. The glossy resin surface reflects light and space\, transforming with every glance\, much like the ever-changing horizon. This collection is a love letter to the ocean and a reminder that its tranquility can live within us\, even when the nearest shore is far away. \nSee more of Angie’s work online: ArtHouse310.com/angie-evans\, on Facebook: @AngieAwesomePants\, on Instagram: @AngieAwesomePants\, and on TikTok: @AngieAwesomePants \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Robin Danks & Lindsey McFarland
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Robin Danks & Lindsey McFarland\nOpening Reception | First Friday November 7th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through November 22nd\, 2025. Art House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita.\nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nROBIN DANKS \nRobin Danks is a visual artist based in Wichita\, Kansas. After a decades-long career in healthcare\, she embraced art as her full-time pursuit\, developing a practice known for its bold textures\, vibrant palettes\, and experimental mark-making. Working across acrylics\, India ink\, and mixed media\, Danks challenges traditional boundaries while grounding her work in instinct\, imagination\, and expressive freedom. \nSee more of Robin’s work online at DanksyArt.com on Facebook: @DanksW3CreationsRobyn and on Instagram: @danksy.art.studio \nLINDSEY MCFARLAND \n“A Story In The Details” \nI began drawing when I was a kid—mostly cartoons\, sketching playful characters like Donald Duck\, Scooby Doo and Winnie the Pooh\, or creating my own comic strip stories. Art became a way for me to retreat into my own little world\, a space where I could disconnect and dream. That’s where my love for art really took root. \nAs I got older\, I explored different mediums\, but I always found myself coming back to drawing with a black pen. There was something captivating about the boldness and simplicity of using a single pen—the way it allowed me to create with such clarity. It wasn’t until my late twenties that I finally found my own style. It all began with drawing pet portraits. I played with different techniques like scratch methods and textured shading. Eventually I stumbled across stippling\, and something just clicked! \nThrough hours and hours of shading (and patience)\, I build my stippling drawings dot by dot with a .005 sized pen. I prefer the smaller sized pens to get as much detail as possible. Organic materials are my usual subjects; fur\, bone\, or plants. Going back to my childhood\, I try to capture an “old storybook” energy with my drawings. As simple as these drawings may be\, there is always a hidden story behind the creation of them. A single stippling drawing can take anywhere between 20-100 hours to compete. I am also a pet portrait artist by commission\, check out my website or my Instagram page for my full portfolio. \nWhen I need a break from the tedious stippling\, I use linocut and print making as my secondary creative outlet. My linocut prints are a bit more abstract. I transfer these drawings onto linoleum\, then carve and chip away at the surface. It satisfies a creative urge I never knew I had\, and using different colors and paints makes the process feel more playful and relaxed compared to stippling. \nI use both styles to reflect the full range of who I am\, with a lot of precision and meticulous work. Creating pet portraits is something I’m deeply proud of\, but my original work is where my personality shines — a little dark\, a little whimsical\, and a little shadow of what I love the most\, to create. \nSee more of Lindsey’s work online at doodles-n-ink.square.site on Facebook: @doodlesnink and on Instagram: @doodlesnink \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita.\nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nSHAWN DELKER \nFiber artist Shawn Marie Delker learned the joy of sewing from her mother beginning at age five and has been stitching ever since. She began quilting in 2000\, and she soon discovered art quilting. \nShawn’s art has been juried into galleries in Topeka\, Omaha and Albuquerque\, and she is a frequent exhibitor at many local galleries. She received the third-place prize at the 2017 Fiber Arts Fiesta in Albuquerque\, New Mexico\, and in 2024 she won First Place in “Kansas Through the Eyes of an Artist” at the Carriage Factory Gallery and Best of Show in the NOTO Fiber Arts Passion’s Exhibition and again in 2024 was awarded People’s Choice at the “Music and Memory” exhibit at NOTO’s Morris Gallery. Her latest exhibit was a solo show titled\, “On the Edge” at the Vernon Filley Art Gallery. Her art is represented at the SNW gallery in Manhattan Kansas. \nShawn’s current work uses an embroidery technique she is developing in which she “paints with thread” on her sewing machine. Her technique is unique to her\, and she continues to experiment to create new ways to create shape\, form\, and texture with thread. Much of the work shown at Art House 310 is botanically printed silk which she created from plants in her garden and then appliqued on her machine embroidered bird. \nSee more of Shawns’s work online at ShawnDelker.art on Facebook: @shawn.delker \nLISA COOGIAS \nMy work is rooted in the landscapes of the subconscious.\n\nDreams often guide my imagery\, surfacing colors\, shapes\, and forms that carry meanings beyond what I can put into words. Abstraction allows me to express emotions and experiences that resist direct explanation\, while portraits ground that inner world in human connection. Each piece is an attempt to give shape to the unseen. They transform fleeting\, hidden feelings into something tangible and shared.\n\nSee more of Lisa’s work on Facebook: @olivia.endive and on Instagram: @lisacoogias\nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Taylor McQueary & Yulla Faun Vega
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Taylor McQueary & Yulla Faun Vega\nOpening Reception | First Friday September 5th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through September 21st\, 2025. \nTAYLOR MCQUEARY \n\nArtist Bio: TayFiveStudio is the creative expression of Taylor McQueary\, an artist and high school art teacher from Wichita\, Kansas. \nTaylor embarked on her creative journey at the University of Kansas\, initially delving into the realm of industrial design. However\, her passion for the fine arts led her to refocus her studies. She pursued a Master’s degree in education at Wichita State University\, specializing in art education\, which equipped her with the tools to inspire young minds. In 2019\, Taylor began her professional career as an art teacher\, where she has been able to continue her own creative explorations while nurturing the artistic talents of her students. \nAs an educator\, Taylor firmly believes in the reciprocal nature of learning\, valuing the insights and inspirations that her students offer. Encouraged by her students to exhibit her work beyond the classroom\, she was motivated to establish TayFive Studio as a platform for her artistic endeavors. \nTaylor’s artwork has been displayed in various art exhibitions\, attracting praise for its vibrant energy\, visual impact\, and use of color. Her dedication to her craft is evident in each carefully crafted piece\, capturing the essence of her artistic vision. Through her expressive and dynamic artworks\, Taylor aims to captivate audiences and spark meaningful connections through the power of visual art. \nArtist Statement: Most of my current work is inspired by the interaction of opposing elements\, specifically shape and color. I find great inspiration in the unique perspective of flowers portrayed by Georgia O’Keeffe. Her ability to capture the essence of the flower has greatly influenced my artistic approach. \nIn my paintings\, I aim to create harmony between the soft\, organic qualities of the flower and the structured lines. I believe that color plays a vital role in achieving this balance\, as it has the power to bring these elements together and enhance their dynamic interaction. My goal is to harness the expressive potential of color to create a visually captivating experience for the viewer. \nWhen it comes to my artistic process\, I tend to rely on intuition and emotion rather than extensive planning. The selection of the main colors for the background is usually the starting point for each painting. Recently\, I have been exploring different compositions with lines\, using my background in design to guide the sizing and ratios of each line. I am meticulous in my approach\, ensuring that each line interacts harmoniously with the others. \nWhen choosing the colors for each line\, I seek out bright hues that will create a striking contrast against the background. This deliberate use of color adds depth and dimension to my work\, further emphasizing the interplay between shape and color. \nFor me\, the value of being an artist lies in the joy and fulfillment I find in the creative process itself. Each painting reflects the culmination of my knowledge\, skills\, and experiences\, as I continue to grow and develop within my craft. I view my artworks as a tangible representation of my artistic journey and a testament to the dedication and passion I bring to my work. \nThrough my art\, I aim to evoke emotions\, stimulate thought\, and invite viewers to immerse themselves in a captivating visual experience. By embracing the interplay of shape and color\, I strive to create artworks that transcend the boundaries of traditional representation\, capturing the essence of the subject in a unique and expressive manner. \nSee more of Taylor’s work on Instagram: @tayfivestudio \nYULLA FAUN VEGA \n\nFlight Safety and How Not to Drown has as much to do with navigating a collapsing economy as it does sustaining a solid place to live. It relates to the struggles of existing paycheck to paycheck\, house to house\, or couch to couch for those living on the edge of collapse. \nFlight Safety is in reference to fleeing one situation to the next\, in hopes the new circumstance is better. Many of the artworks use personally developed symbol from the artist’s own previous situations and struggles. Flight became synonymous with fleeing a deteriorating home space to another\, to another\, to another… and so on. The scissor tail flycatcher\, the Oklahoma state bird\, has transformed into a symbol of hope for the future\, an escape and refuge in another place outside of Kansas. \nHow Not to Drown is the idea and dream of being okay\, despite the looming fear of full homelessness or becoming forgotten. It’s the thought of “maybe another place is better”. Sometimes\, seemingly\, the unknown or the ‘ocean’. The ocean being full of the unknown\, and yet we remain hopeful this space is better than the last\, that it’s the oasis that’s been advertised. \nTransitional homelessness is the central idea of these works. It doesn’t mean fully homeless\, but it does mean lacking a place to settle and call home. Upon conversing with many people in this situation\, the question arises – is this a problem creatives face in particular? \nIn order to help each other navigate these situations it is more important than ever to develop small communities and networks in which people mutually support and check in on each other while we all learn to ask for help – sometimes over and over. \nAbout the Artist: Jessica Vega was born in Wellington\, Kansas and had always wanted to become an artist. She navigated a lonely childhood\, due to selective mutism. This\, in turn\, made her develop a high sense of creativity. As an adult she accidentally married into a cult – this ended in divorce as she escaped with a baby to Wichita in the pursuit of working as an artist and exploring life more fully. She worked for years as a portrait artist\, then in organ donation\, then as an aerialist. After studying at the Kansas City Art Institute and Cowley College she went on to go through the Artist Inc program and is a certified project manager. She now works as an artist\, a teacher at Mark Arts\, and a project manager for a local community events. Recently she has changed her name to Yulla Faun Vega. \nSee more of Yulla’s work online at yullafaun.com on Instagram: @edwardfaunart\, and support at patreon.com/ProjectDoe \n\n\nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Kelly Rundell & Michael Davenport
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Kelly Rundell & Michael Davenport\nOpening Reception | First Friday August 1st\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through August 24th\, 2025. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nKELLY RUNDELL \n\nSometimes artists present deep\, moody work with a message that can change the world. But that’s not me. The only message I can relay now is that it’s okay\, even necessary\, to seek out lightness\, happiness and fun\, no matter how dark things seem to be. \nSo\, welcome to my garden party! Because we have a shared understanding of what nature looks like\, my art is immediately recognizable. My goal is not to be precise or realistic. Rather\, I make joyful representations of flowers. Working with acrylic paint and ink\, I fill paper with unique designs and color. I then cut the painted paper to create individual petals\, leaves and other shapes. Like a jigsaw puzzle\, I try different combinations and placements of the pieces. When it comes together\, I have wildflowers–with the emphasis on wild. I find the process messy\, but fun. And\, importantly\, the final art makes me smile. \nSee more of Kelly’s work on Instagram: @kellyrundellart \n\n\nMICHAEL DAVENPORT \n\nHave you ever thought about the layers of yourself — the parts you show the world and the ones you keep tucked away? My work invites you to explore those layers\, both in the art and within yourself. Through color\, abstraction\, and vulnerability\, I aim to create space for emotional honesty\, connection\, and reflection. \nAt the heart of my work is the relationship between masculinity and vulnerability. I often depict physically strong men in tender\, emotionally exposed situations to reflect the way I experience and process my own feelings. These figures disrupt traditional expectations of strength\, revealing that real power can come from authenticity and emotional depth. \nI work primarily in mixed media\, using physical layers to echo the complexity of human emotion. Idioms like “falling in love\,” “being held down\,” or “protecting your heart” are explored both literally and metaphorically\, offering viewers familiar entry points into nuanced emotional terrain. Each piece slowly unveils a part of myself that words alone can’t quite express. \nQueer iconography plays a vital role in my practice. I incorporate symbols\, gestures\, and references drawn from queer history to honor those who came before me and to build a bridge between past and present. This is both a personal act of remembrance and a way of connecting with today’s LGBTQIA+ community — creating art that feels both rooted and relevant. \nRecently\, I’ve embraced abstraction more fully — letting bright colors\, mark-making\, and shape exploration bring joy and immediacy to the work. There’s something satisfying in this visceral\, almost childlike play\, which helps me express what’s difficult to say out loud. Blending realism with abstract elements lets me move between control and freedom\, structure and release. \nSubtle humor\, double meanings\, and whimsy are woven throughout my work. These elements encourage curiosity and connection\, drawing viewers in while inviting deeper engagement. As a queer polyamorous man\, I create from personal experience\, but with the goal of amplifying underrepresented voices — especially in conservative spaces. By sharing stories through art\, I hope to foster understanding\, celebrate emotional truth\, and honor the beautifully complex experience of being human. \nSee more of Michael’s work online at MichaelKDavenport.com or on Facebook and Instagram: @micdav87 \n\n\nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Kinta McGhee with special extended showing of Amy Huser & Chuck Dooms\nOpening Reception | First Friday April 4th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through April 20th\, 2025. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nKINTA MCGHEE \nFor the past few years\, Februllage has been a cornerstone of my creative practice. Februllage is an Instagram art challenge held each February\, a month-long exploration of collage\, shaped by daily prompts and the spontaneity they inspire. \nWhat began as an exercise in discipline and discovery has deepened into a true love for the medium\, allowing me to refine my voice through paper\, texture\, and found imagery. \nThis collection marks a milestone: for the first time\, I am offering the original works for sale. While I have previously shared these pieces as limited edition prints\, this show presents them in their raw\, tactile form—their layers\, edges\, and imperfections fully intact. Each collage is a reflection of a fleeting moment in time\, captured and reassembled into something entirely new. \nI invite you to explore these works\, to find your own connections within them\, and to celebrate the unexpected beauty that emerges when fragments come together. \nSee more of Kinta’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kinta_mcghee/ \nSpecial extended showing of Any Huser & Chuck Dooms \nSee more about Amy & Chuck here: https://arthouse310.com/event/amyhuserchuckdooms/ \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Amy Huser & Chuck Dooms
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Amy Huser & Chuck Dooms\nOpening Reception | First Friday March 7th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through March 23rd\, 2025. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nAMY HUSER \nWhen you think of play\, what comes to mind? Do you think back to when you were a child\, or do you think of your life right now? I remember growing up playing outside in the evenings\, I would get lost in the silliest things …. Organizing sticks on the ground\, making patterns in the sand\, or collecting as many roly-polies as I could find. As we grow up\, we often get caught up and forget that play is important still. \nIn my work\, play is a process. This process can look like embroidering variations of a line or carefully placing pieces of gold leaf one by one. In both\, there is an order\, but a freedom to just roam as I go. The repetition of mark making calls back to the inclination to organize nature around me when I was a kid. In adulthood\, this repetition has a meditative quality that is my way of working out all of my thoughts and letting go — creating something beautiful and light. \nSee more of Amy’s work online at https://www.amyhuser.com/ and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/amyhuserart/ \nCHUCK DOOMS \nI started doing photo manipulation and digital painting about 10 years ago. An early diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease prompted an early retirement. \nTo be honest\, I started playing around with my little Android phone’s painting apps. I started by taking pictures I’d taken with the phone and digitally manipulate them and add digital paint. My process has changed since I invested in a much larger tablet. \nThe theme hasn’t changed much. I make what appeals to me. Whatever it might be. A few years ago\, I had DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery. This has given me much needed control over the tremors that I experienced. I’m not cured\, but it was a game changer. \nI’m often reminded of a quote attributed to the late\, great David Bowie;\n“Aging is an extraordinary process whereby you become the person you always should have been.” I hope he was right. \nI took up this silly little obsession because I wanted to. I keep doing it because now I have to. I owe so much to the Wichita art community. They opened their hearts to me and made me feel a part of that community. The work you see is my open love letter to them. \nDue to health issues this will be my last showing. Thank you for all the love\, support\, and encouragement. Thank you. \nSee more of Chuck’s work online at http://www.chuckdooms.com or on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chuckdooms \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Bryce McCoy & Josh Bethel & Kevin Hansen
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Bryce McCoy & Josh Bethel & Kevin Hansen\nOpening Reception | First Friday February 7th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through February 23rd\, 2025.\nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nBRYCE MCCOY \nBryce McCoy Landscapes. To find photos of places I would like to go to and painting them the way I see them so others will want to go there too is very important to me. \nI was born in Kansas City in 1961 but have lived in Wichita Kansas since 1965. I have worked in production graphics for others since college and decided I wanted to do my own art. I have always loved landscape paintings\, my father did wonderful landscapes in college. So in 2014 I took my sister’s advice to take acrylic classes at City Arts and have been painting ever since. \nLearning to paint with watercolor has been a challenge and a friend gave me some watercolor gouache; now it is my favorite medium. I have shown my art at City Arts\, Gallery VII\, Vertigo and Carriage Factory Gallery as well as many craft fairs and art festivals. I donated two paintings to PBS for a fundraiser. I joined Wichita Plein Aire Enthusiasts on Facebook and have received many awards for my paintings. \nFrom the heat of the direct sunshine to the coolness of the shade there is a distinct line of separation of color. Even in the dead of night there is light with varied levels of shadow\, but the colors are still there\, they are just much more subtle. Art helps to capture the beauty of nature and show it in a personal way\, sharing a mood or a moment in time and space. I’ve been told that my art is very calming with a sense of nostalgia. Thank You\, I hope you enjoy my art. \nSee more of Bryce’s work on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/brycegmccoy/ \nJOSH BETHEL \nJoshua R. Bethel (JRB5): Artist & Podcast Host \nRoom Green Productions is like my lint trap and the dryer is my art. It is a place where I showcase my digital art/designs\, my traditional or nontraditional art and two podcast that I host. Art Assault is the podcast that Kevin Hansen and I host where we created paintings and interview artist\, musicians\, entrepreneurs and more from across the country and locally. We help promote our guests and all the cool stuff they have going. The second podcast is ForMusicLoversOnly!. Coach Casey\, Sontia Soul and myself come up this music topics each week and then create our own Top 5 songs that fall into that topic. After the podcast airs\, a playlist is made so viewer can easily hear the songs that were discussed. Find Room Green Productions on Facebook\, YouTube or RoomGreenProductions.com \nSee more of Josh’s work online at https://www.roomgreenproductions.com\,  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@roomgreenproductions\, and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RoomGreenProductions \nKEVIN HANSEN \nMy studio of work can be created almost anywhere. Not just in my home studio\, but live in a podcast studio\, in a bar\, a corner on the sidewalk or even a parking lot where I just pull up. I do my best work with an audience. Where I feed off the energy from an audience to create the images to be presented. I rarely plan what is going to be created. I add layers of colors and shapes till an image becomes alive from the process. \nI like to say my images “Begin as Dr Seuss and I drag them over to Reverend Roth (Rat Fink).” As I am observed laying on layers\, images appear and disappear till one grabs hold and comes to life. With the images that come appear and get covered up are still a part of the piece. It’s a raw process of creativity that compelled me to continue to explore the depth of the energy and imagery around you. I want my viewers to realize anyone can create. Just find the tools you want to create with. I have utilized my live art presentation to help raise tens of thousands of dollars over the years and I will continue to do so. I can be found on Facebook\, Instagram and Tik Tok as Kevin Gary Hansen. SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Dominique Joiner & Brittany Stewart
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Dominique Joiner & Brittany Stewart\nOpening Reception | First Friday December 6th\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through December 22nd\, 2024. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nDOMINIQUE JOINER \nDominique Joiner (b 1988 Wichita\, Kansas) uses her chosen mediums of acrylic and oils to identify the experience of women in a male dominated society. \nDominique has observed the lives of many women from several walks of life and uses the influence of these women to relay her narrative. \nDominique’s art will encourage individuals to search inwardly and come to peace with their feelings. \nSee more of Dominique’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/domiijo/ on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DomiiiJo/ and on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@domiijo \nBRITTANY STEWART \nA Wichita local and self taught\, contemporary visual artist. \nOvertime art became a gateway for self expression. My purpose as an artist is to explore around the human conditions\, how we fit into the rest of the world. Quite frankly what makes us different and unique. We may never have it all figured out\, but I’ll continue to stay reflective because I experience uncertainty and certainty within the same energy. \nWithing my work I share my love for color\, texture and shapes. My pieces are almost always Abstract and figure based. Understanding that our true portraits are much more than what we see with our own eyes. It’s a much deeper dive into who we are. \nThroughout this series I focused on the various stages we may face as we go through life changes. \nSee more of Brittany’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/belove_/ and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100011454252295 \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Serena Salerno & Deber
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Serena Salerno & Deber\nOpening Reception | First Friday November 1st\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through November 24th\, 2024. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nSERENA SALERNO \nMy art is all about the bright colors and energy of nature\, combining vivid acrylic paints with a playful imagination. I draw endless inspiration from sea creatures and animals on land\, bringing them to life in a way that feels both magical and lively. The bold colors in my work aim to capture the unique beauty of these creatures. \nI also love adding cartoon characters to my art\, which brings a fun touch to my paintings. This mix of real-life animals and playful\, animated elements creates a unique style that invites viewers to see these creatures in a new and exciting way. \nThrough my paintings\, I want to offer a joyful escape where colors and shapes come together to celebrate the wonder of nature. My goal is to connect with viewers and make them see the natural world in a fresh\, vibrant\, life. \nSee more of Serena’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jujuoctopus/ \nEMMANUEL CAMPOS PEREZ (DEBER) \nMy artwork is abstracted personal storytelling. A mix of mediums\, mainly spray paint and acrylics. Graffiti art permeates all my work\, and the themes I try to communicate with it. I try to convey a feeling more than a straightforward message. \nI am inspired by many friends that share a lifelong dedication to Graffiti as an art form\, as well as many Old Western artists. \nI have dedicated most of my life to painting Graffiti\, and I will always strive to paint more and more of it. I see my Canvas paintings as another way of exercising my craft and projecting the aesthetics and skills I have learned for a broader audience. \nTo me Art is not means to an end\, is the end itself. \nI started painting graffiti and murals in Chihuahua Mexico at the age of 13\, and from there on it has been a constant part of life. Now I want to share with the public a window into the ideas that keep me passionate and compromised to this craft. \nSee more of Emmanuel’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/deber614/ \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Alexandria Olthoff & Emily Ritter
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Alexandria Olthoff & Emily Ritter\nOpening Reception | First Friday October 4th\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through October 20th\, 2024. Art House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nALEXANDRIA OLTHOFF \nMy name is Alexandria or “Ali\,” a local to the Wichita area but have experienced & lived in many other locations. I have been painting\, drawing and creating for 16 plus years. \nAnimals have always held a special place in my soul\, real or mythical\, they fascinate & inspire me endlessly. \nWhile animals are a central theme in my art\, my creative process is also a vehicle for navigating difficult emotions & challenging times\, both personal and in the world. \nI work across various mediums – acrylic\, oil\, watercolor\, pencil & colored pencil\, each offering its own unique language. The journey of learning and growth in my art is extremely fulfilling when I look back at how far I’ve come. \nAs an artist my aspiration is two-fold: to sustain myself doing what I love and to make art that is accessible to everyone who finds joy and/or solace in it. Balancing these two things is not always easy but a challenge I choose to embrace with humility and determination. \nBeyond art I find joy in time spent with my pets\, kayaking\, dancing\, adventuring with my husband\, trying not to kill my plants and savoring the art of doing nothing at all. \nI invite you to check out my website where you will find my social links and a deeper glimpse into my artistic journey. Thank you for being here\, for lending your eyes\, for being a part of making my art visible. \n-Alikat \nSee more of Alexandria’s work online: https://linktr.ee/alexandriaolthoff \, on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/alikatart7 \, on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AlikatArtBiz \, and on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@alikatart7 \nEMILY RITTER \nBio: Emily E. Ritter is an multidisciplinary artist currently living in Kansas. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with an emphasis in Printmaking from Wichita State University in 2012. After graduating\, Ritter was an Intern-in-Residence at Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale\, NY in 2014. She received her Master’s of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Arizona State University in 2018. Ritter’s work explores various ecological themes\, ranging from illustrations of native Kansas flora and fauna to sculptural narratives of potential ecological futures. She has exhibited her work locally\, nationally\, and internationally. Ritter is currently the Assistant Professor of Digital Design at Newman University in Wichita\, KS. \nArtist Statement: Mark-making and texture have always been central to my artistic practice\, serving as both a creative expression and a meditative practice. The repetitive act of creating intricate details\, often in the form of fur\, became a therapeutic ritual for me during times of stress. This body of work began as an exploration of letting go—abandoning the pursuit of perfect\, realistic wildlife portraits in favor of embracing the calming “doodles” that I would instinctively create. My goal was to create a surreal and abstract world of “fur creatures\,” inspired by my deep connection to the natural world. \nAs I developed this series\, a significant life event shifted its direction\, leading to the most personal work I’ve ever created. I began to merge my abstract\, nature-inspired illustrations with emotion drawings and emotions tracking\,—a process that helped me navigate the profound and sudden changes in my life. This fusion resulted in a mythical world of “fur creatures” with greater depth and meaning. \nEmotions are not exclusive to humans; they permeate the natural world in ways that are both subtle and profound. Flora and fauna each express emotions in their own unique ways\, reflecting the complex emotional landscapes we often attribute solely to ourselves. Plants that have stunted growth from stress or release pheromones when damaged\, insects that learn behaviors from pleasure or pain\, crows remembering when you have done them wrong\, frantic gosling parents trying to save their chick that was hit by a car\, or your dog being excited for you to come home. All of these examples speak to a shared emotional experience of the world\, and how different species use their emotions to help them navigate it. This is something I kept in mind while I surrounded myself with nature to help me navigate my new life trajectory. \nFor me\, this process has been a form of art therapy—a way to process my emotions\, understand them better\, and draw joy from nature. While I do not wish the emotional turmoil I have faced upon anyone\, I do hope you find a personal connection to these pieces. My hope is that you leave this exhibition feeling seen\, understanding that you are not alone in your experiences. While each journey is unique\, our emotions connect us all. \nSee more of Emily’s work online: https://www.emilyeritter.com/  and on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/emilyeritterart  \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Five Artists Show
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Five Artists Show\nOpening Reception | First Friday September 6th\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through September 22nd\, 2024. Art House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nParticipating Artists:\nMATTHEW HILYARD\nCLINTON WILLIS\nDAVID PETTY\nJEREMY WILLIAMS\nTIMOTHY REAMES \nArtist Statements:\nMATTHEW HILYARD \nMy work aligns itself in the liminal space between disciplines. With a wide range of mediums. \nWorking what comes to hand: discarded remnants of trades & the everyday. This eclectic approach to materiality encapsulates the notion of wayfaring\, following the materials rather then traveling a fixed path. \nI always investigate the art as an object premise and through this practice I aim to find a balance between artist led intervention\, networked assemblage and material agency. Materiality allows me to consider painting as a set of possibilities rather than a medium in stasis. \nSee more of Matthew’s work on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/matthewhilyardart15/. \nCLINTON WILLIS \n\n\n\n\nMy art is an homage or a love letter to the art movements of German Expressionism \nand Fauvism. Both of these movements began in the early 20th century but faded over time like many other art movements of the past. \nWhen I paint an expressionist or fauvist piece\, I do not want to add any kind of modern flair to the work. Rather than reinventing the two art movements I want to study them and try as best as I can to capture the expressionist and fauvist spirit. I want my work to look and feel old as if it was done between the 1920s -1940s when German Expressionism and Fauvism were thriving. \nIf one has never heard of Fauvism or German Expressionism know that they can both be summarized as diving into bold and vibrant colors and the work made is not based on or guided by realism principles but emotion. \nSee more of Clintons’s work on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/clinton.tarantino/. \nDAVID PETTY \n\n\n\n\n“I am David Petty\, a mixed-media artist specializing in abstract compositions that explore the intersection of layered collage and various mark-making techniques. My work combines these elements to evoke a profound sense of nostalgia\, inviting viewers to connect with the past through textured and dynamic visuals. Often inspired by old paper and illustrations\, my pieces reinterpret these materials\, giving them new life and context. \nMy artistic journey began with a fascination for vintage ephemera and the stories they hold. I am particularly drawn to the tactile qualities of aged paper\, weathered photographs\, and antique illustrations\, which I incorporate into my work to create a dialogue between the past and the present. Through layering and manipulation\, I aim to uncover hidden narratives and evoke emotions tied to memory and time. \nThe process of creating my art is both intuitive and deliberate. I start by selecting materials that resonate with my current themes\, often scavenging for unique textures and patterns. Mark-making techniques\, such as drawing\, painting\, and scratching\, are then applied to build complexity and depth within the composition. Each mark is a testament to the passage of time\, reflecting the gradual accumulation of experiences and memories. \nThemes of nostalgia\, memory\, and the passage of time are central to my work. I strive to create pieces that not only capture the essence of bygone eras but also invite viewers to reflect on their own personal histories. By juxtaposing contemporary elements with historical references\, I seek to bridge the gap between the past and the present\, offering a space for contemplation and connection. \nUltimately\, my goal is to create art that resonates on a deeply personal level\, sparking a sense of recognition and reminiscence. Through my mixed-media practice\, I hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of the past while embracing the present and future.” \nSee more of David’s work on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/davidapetty/. \nJEREMY WILLIAMS \n\n\n\n\nI’ve always had an interest in how design elements interact with each other\, and by implementing various materials\, I’ve embraced the seemingly infinite possibilities of mixed media. I’m constantly evaluating what my piece “needs” in order to achieve the “variety within unity” mantra. “Dimensional” painting has become my focus\, honing my style\, while still being flexible enough to explore different techniques. \nI enjoy employing deep/hidden concepts into my work\, as I have a somewhat-cryptic mind. The title can aid the viewer to have the “aha” moment\, for what the work is about\, but those concepts are not the priority. I strive to provide solid design\, as my primary motive is of viewer experience\, to be creative and innovative\, and hold their attention. \nMy love of abstract is rooted not only in design\, but also in the opportunity to connect with the viewer in a unique way. \nSee more of Jeremy’s work on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/jerillium/. \nTIMOTHY REAMES \n\n\n\n\nMy artwork is a dialogue between realism and abstraction\, rendered through the vibrant medium of acrylic paint on canvas. I am deeply influenced by my experiences in the military and my travels around the globe\, which have profoundly shaped my understanding of emotion and color. \nIn my realistic animal portraits\, I strive to capture the essence and intricacy of each animal\, starting with the eyes. Each piece is a meticulous exploration of form and texture\, reflecting my fascination with the natural world. Through detailed brushwork and a focus on accuracy\, I aim to evoke a sense of connection and reverence for the beautiful animals that share our planet. \nConversely\, my abstract work is a personal journey into the realm of color and emotion. I select hues that resonate with me on a visceral level\, and my compositions emerge from the interplay between these colors and the feelings they provoke. This intuitive approach allows me to explore and express complex emotional landscapes\, informed by my diverse experiences. \nMy creative process is immersive and intense. Once I conceive an idea\, I dedicate myself to it wholly\, often working for days or even weeks until the piece feels complete. This dedication reflects my commitment to capturing and conveying the depth of my experiences and emotions through art. \nUltimately\, my work is an exploration of the intersection between the tangible and the intangible. It is a quest to convey the profound impact of my experiences and the nuanced spectrum of emotions that arise from them. Through both realism and abstraction\, I seek to invite viewers into a space of contemplation and connection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Tara Hufford Walker & Mark Walker
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Tara Hufford Walker & Mark Walker\nOpening Reception | First Friday August 2nd\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through August 24th\, 2024. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nTARA HUFFORD WALKER \nBright colors\, intense contrast\, and shadows – I like art that shouts at you\, and draws the viewer in. I like art that makes one linger and ask\, “is there a story there?” I also appreciate figurative imagery and subject matter – art that looks real\, that demonstrates the artists appreciation for technical skill. I try to not shy away from things like teeth and hands\, but embrace the opportunity to challenge myself – to better my craft. \nI have been inspired by artists such as Caravaggio\, and Philip Pearlstein with their extreme figurative poses\, the lights and darks\, the great painterly prowess. I also love the surreal artists such as Salvador Dali -his creepy\, whimsical imagery – painted realistically\, but in a dreamlike nonsensical way. Then there are the pop artists with their bright paint and shiny colors that make me smile and inspired to paint. Andy Warhol\, Jeff Koons\, James Rosenquist\, Wayne Thiebaud – so many!  I’m always on the lookout for things\, and people that make me think – “I want to paint that!!!” \nSee more of Tara’s work on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TaraHuffordWalkerArtist \nMARK WALKER \nI grew up loving watching my dad take photos of weddings in the 60s\, a supplemental income from his day job. Spending nights in the darkroom with him … watching and looking at lots of photo magazines around the house. I Started taking more slide photos of my own more in 70s. Then In the 90s along came digital and I was intrigued in the prospect of manipulation. \nNow comes smartphones and it’s just amazing what can be done. I have been taking photos for 50 years. Smartphone apps and lenses have made the amount of work and time much quicker. You can take and hold thousands of pics on your phone. I fuse them much as old double exposure used to but in an instant. Today I’m fusing 4 to 5 photo layers together using photos of my surroundings. I prefer the square format and still like smaller and larger pixel size when printing depending on exhibit. \nI refer to myself as a self-taught Multi-Media Artist\, because I also enjoy making art assemblages made of recycled materials\, plus Experimenting rock music with video and guitar. \nI moved to Wichita in 1974\, worked at Wichita Art Association (Center for The Arts) for 17 years\, USD259\, Gallery Goon 16 years at Go Away Garage\, and 15 years currently at Vertigo 232 Gallery\, Founder\, Director\, Gallery Curator.  I have been in gallery art exhibits around the state of Kansas since 1998. I am also a founding member of Artist Group “ Id…ology” (a group of 7 artists that makes art with recycled materials). I hope you enjoy my phone photos and thank you for your support of the arts in Wichita. \nSee more of Mark’s work on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MarkWalkerArtistMusic and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/mswalk5art. \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Tarah Lynn Clark & Lari Howard
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Tarah Lynn Clark & Lari Howard\nOpening Reception | First Friday July 5th\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through July 21st\, 2024. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nTARAH LYNN CLARK \n“Nature’s Contrast” is a collection of work which explores the vibrance of nature from my point of view. \nI’ve been painting colorful florals\, landscapes\, and creatures that surround me here in Kansas. They have inspired me to capture and push the limits of their beauty with vibrant colors of flowing acrylic paint. Doing this allows me to give the piece a raw movement\, like it would have naturally\, but from my perspective. \nOnce the movement of the piece begins\, I layer on defined dark contour lines of India Ink\, expanding on the textured contrast details that organically appear. \nThese statement pieces breathe life and beauty into a space and I’m glad to be able to bring them to you. \nSee more of Tarah’s work online at https://www.tarahlynncreations.com\, on Facebook at https://facebook.com/tarahlynncreations\, and on Instagram at https://instagram.com/tarahlynncreations. \nLARI HOWARD \nI know there is a scientific explanation for how we see light and color.  But how do you explain the magic of the iridescent flash of a hummingbird’s wing\, the diamond sparkle of dew on a flower in the morning sunlight\, the mystery in a cast shadow or that rich golden glow at dusk?  The allure of trying to capture these moments is too great\, too tempting for me to ignore.  I am bewitched.  I want my paintings to be an invitation to join me along a forest path to a hidden clearing and a secret garden where we might see the wonder of spring’s first blossom.  Art can inform and make us think\, but it should delight and surprise us sometimes too. \nLari has always loved art\, probably from the first crayon placed in her hand.  In college she took art at Southwestern Oklahoma State University\, then various classes and workshops whenever possible.  Life and moving every few years often interfered\, but with retirement she has renewed her commitment to painting.  Lari has taken workshops and studied under the following artists; Cecy Turner\, Naomi Brotherton\, Walt Davis\, Michael Holter and Stephen Zhang to name a few.  New to Kansas but excited about the art scene in Wichita\, she is a member of the Kansas Art Guild and Wichita Fine Arts Atelier studying under Vincent Woods and Don Praseuth.  She recently participated in the Riverfest Plein Air competition winning Third Place overall. \nSee more of Lari’s work on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/lari.howard/\, and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/larieh2023. \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Madison Mullen & Brittany Schaar
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Madison Mullen & Brittany Schaar\nOpening Reception | First Friday May 3rd\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through May 26th\, 2024. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nMADISON MULLEN \nIn my ongoing exploration of the portrayal of the female body and experience in the art world\, I create work that depicts the female experience from multiple angles. \nI explore many methods of both capturing and curating the intimate female perspective. My methods and mediums have traversed varying phases. Utilizing printed media\, I draw parallels between portrayals of violence against women in media and real-life acts of violence. \nOperating under the belief that the romanticism of sex and violence in pop culture desensitizes society to the severity of such issues. Contrasting to the use of media imagery\, I create work exempt from the female form\, utilizing animals in place of women\, operating under the belief that the representation of the female body is inherently sexualized and therefore corrupt. \nAdditionally\, I draw reference to historical portrayals of women and reclaim the narrative and symbolism of the female form whilst exposing the dreadful history of female exploitation. \nSee more of Madison’s work online at https://www.madisonmullenart.com/ and on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/madisonmullen_art/ \nBRITTANY SCHAAR \n“Windows/ Komorebi”\nA letter on “windows / komorebi” \nThink of something said to you\, a gesture\, moment or your surroundings. At any age\, pick your favorites; the defining moments\, the joyful ones\, the hard-lessons-learned ones. \nWhat you see are moments and memories of mine\, windows into my life\, into feelings and connections or pauses of free fall in between hugs and conscious thought. Nostalgia is so important\, these are the things we lean on when all else is passing. \nSo hang on to your playful shadows\, feelings and memories. Be both immersed and grateful\, but note that you have survived all your days so far\, so being present is the best medicine to create new windows. Komorebi is the energy of of being present and re-energizing in sun rays\, a kind of pause before you move on. \nYou notice komorebi as sun filtering through trees as you walk\, or drive\, and that feeling of joy in realizing you get to be here. Thank you. \nSee more of Brittany’s work on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brittanyschaarart and on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brittanyschaarart/ \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Dennis McPhail & Jason Crile
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Dennis McPhail & Jason Crile\nOpening Reception | First Friday April 5th\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through April 21st\, 2024.\nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nDENNIS MCPHAIL \nDennis McPhail is an artist and tattoo artist from Wichita\, Kansas. \nBorn in 1965\, Dennis was heavily influenced by comic books\, horror movies\, album covers\, and the hotrod car culture. \nDennis’ primary choice of mediums are ink and brush\, colored pencil\, and enamel paints. Dennis has been tattooing since 1998. The combination of these influences and mediums result in Dennis’ work that embodies his vision of “Kustom Kuture” art. \nDriven By Blacklines – Familiar images from the Kustom Kulture \nBlack outlines are always a presence in my art. The influence of early 70’s comics like Batman\, and “creepy” and “eerie” magazines hardened an impression on my young mind. Combine that with Hotrood magazines\, cartoon magazines\, and t-shirt art by Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth and Robert Williams\, left an indelible impression on my young mind. \nI wanted the work in this show to reflect the many images that are familiar to traditional car culture and ‘lowbrow art’. Most of these pieces were done between November 2023 and just a couple of weeks ago. This is my first solo show\, and I was driven to accomplish a wide range of my styles\, mediums and presentations. \nSee more of Dennis’ work online at https://dennismcphail.bigcartel.com/ on Facebook: facebook.com/dennis.mcphail and on Instagram: instagram.com/famousmcphail \nJASON CRILE \nI wanted to do something new\, something I hadn’t seen before. Inspired by light painting—long-exposure photographs that manipulate light sources in dark spaces—I spent $30 on two three-packs of laser pointers\, each containing one red\, one green\, one purple\, and began experimenting. \nMy first experiments were literally fumbling in the dark. With no guidebook to turn to\, I had to create a vocabulary for the work as I went. It also needed to create a space for the work. \nThe exposure lengths required a perfectly black space\, completely devoid of light leaks. This led to me building “The Void”—the space I needed to create the images before you. \nI started with objects I found at home\, a plant\, a skull\, an umbrella\, a typewriter. As I began to refine my technique\, I moved on to bottles and glassware\, and then to portraiture. \nEach new subject brought with it new challenges and rewards. I discovered that by changing the camera’s orientation to the objects while illuminating them with precise angles of laser light revealed their natural topography in three dimensions. \nSo here I present my journey to date in this medium\, from household objects to glassware and people. This project has been a source of continuous inspiration to me\, and I hope it will serve to remind the viewer that there is always a new way to look at things! \nSee more of Jason’s work on Facebook: facebook.com/jason.crile and on Instagram: instagram.com/jasoncrile \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Rachel Hermes & Sara Grant
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Rachel Hermes & Sara Grant\nOpening Reception | First Friday March 1st\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through March 24th\, 2024. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nRACHEL HERMES \nExploring the transient\, fragile nature of the human experience\, my work focuses on the cycle of life and death as an integrally tied aspect of our relationship with nature. Subjects are often depicted in vulnerable positions with faces obscured\, surrounded by plants and leaves\, or ambiguous forms. Untamed growth and decay encroach on figure and ground\, referencing the inevitable passage of time and the liminal state before regeneration begins. Nature is employed as a variable entity that overwhelms. \nMy work fluctuates between depicting a perception of my own reality that is distorted by shame and fear\, and an imagined ideal steeped in fantasy. The juxtaposition of these two concepts creates tension as I create the work. I experience an unrelenting pull to balance the ugly or unsettling with the beautiful – bitter disreality and a deep longing for something better. In this way\, my work alternately acts as a vessel for escapism and as a method of intrinsic exploration. Figures reside in isolated\, vaguely otherworldly bubbles\, shielded from reality. \nPlacelessness and isolation are strong themes in my work. I often feel a lack of belonging\, and that disconnectedness is mirrored by the solo figures and their highly ambiguous surroundings. The plants\, leaves\, and vines are intended to read as a marked cadence of slow growth that will render the subjects increasingly entombed as time wears on. As the figures seem unaware of the impending intrusion of plant life and its inevitable ensnarement\, a parallel may be drawn to the slow\, but steady toll taken from living in a morally challenging and psychologically draining technological world. \nSee more of Rachel’s work online at https://rachelhermes.com/ on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rachelhermesart/ and on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rehermesart/ \nSARA GRANT \nSara Grant is a Midwest based\, visual artist and mother of three. She has two boys and a girl. Being a mother is her ultimate joy\, but her art is where she is able to find her peace. Her current medium of choice is color pencil. Throughout her life\, she has also enjoyed working with mixed media\, clay and her first love photography. \nSara has had a lifelong passion for art. In her most recent body of work\, she focuses on emotionalism with a realistic drawing style. She is currently working from her studio for upcoming shows. She is looking forward to the future and her continuing evolution as an artist. \nSee more of Sara’s work online at https://www.sgrantatelier.com/ on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100085041624491 and on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sgrantatelier \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Ellen Mosiman & Dustin Youngman
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Ellen Mosiman & Dustin Youngman\nOpening Reception | First Friday February 2nd\, 2024 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through February 18th\, 2024. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nELLEN MOSIMAN \nHaving gained a reputation in elementary school as “the girl who draws cats” I realized I’d found my niche and never looked back. \nI grew up on a farm surrounded by animals and nature\, and because of this I’ve naturally gravitated towards those subject matters when I sit down at the computer to draw. My goal is to make work that is fun\, full of color\, and whimsical; something that my childhood self would really get a kick out of\, and hope that they make the viewer smile as well. \nSee more of Ellen’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ellenmosiman \nDUSTIN YOUNGMAN \nGrowing up in Kansas\, I always wanted to be a cowboy. The freedom\, the daring\, and the toughness of a cowboy always called to me whenever I wanted to imagine a game to play with myself. For this show I wanted to showcase cowboys in a medium that a true cowboy would enjoy at a saloon – a deck of playing cards. In this project\, I enjoyed the challenge of balancing simplification of form for the characters as well as the maximalism of playing card decoration. \nSee more of Dustin’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dustin_youngman \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Tania Pemar & Dominique Joiner
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Tania Pemar & Dominique Joiner\nOpening Reception | First Friday December 1st\, 2023 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through December 24th\, 2023. Art House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nTANIA PEMAR \nTania Pemar is a freelance artist living and working just outside of Wichita\, KS. \nTania has always been enthralled by the experience of art making itself. The feeling of her hands engaging with the materials\, the moments before and after mark making\, and the subtle shifts in seeing the natural world around her. Her work is the accumulation of: feelings\, memories\, landscape\, subconscious and conscious thoughts that form into colors and shapes that she interacts with on canvas. Her work is primarily driven by the way she experiences the world visually\, through the mental notes she takes as she goes about her day to day. Another key part to her practice is the fact she has grown up surrounded by the landscape of the coast and this is a major theme that continues to bring life and vision to her work. \nTania is passionate about the unique and integral impact artwork can have within a space. She believes that art can be a fulfilling experience in the spaces we dwell. \nSee more of Tania’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/taniapemar/ \nDOMINIQUE JOINER \nDominique Joiner (b 1988 Wichita\, Kansas) uses her chosen mediums of acrylic and oils to identify the experience of women in a male dominated society. \nSee more of Dominque’s work on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DomiiiJo on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/domiijo/ and on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@domiijo \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

Show hangs through November 19th\, 2023. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nALEXANDRIA OLTHOFF \nAlexandria Olthoff (Ali)\, also known as Alikat Art\, creates in many mediums including watercolor\, acrylic\, graphite\, mixed media and oils. The most common theme seen through Ali’s artwork is watercolor/acrylic pet portraits and acrylic canvas pieces of different animals. Ali uses art to bring joy and beauty into people’s lives by creating custom pieces that honor the things they love. \nAli is an avid animal lover\, what this means is she gets down right giddy and goo goo eyed at the presence of any living creature. Ali has a unique gift of capturing the quirky individualism of a beloved pet and bringing it to life and has been developing her own captivating style of custom portraits for over 6 years. \nConnecting art to the tender places of people’s hearts is one of Ali’s finest gifts. Through his paintings\, Johnico works to give concepts new life\, sometimes painting his own version of old black and white photos. Josh prides himself on his use of dynamic colors\, rich textures\, and layers of original imagery to tell his tales. Johnico looks at Native art as a way to keep Native American history alive while presenting the culture in a new way and promoting space for future Native artists to continue the move. \nJosh Johnico (Choctaw\, Hopi) is a contemporary artist based out of Wichita\, KS. While Josh has always had a proclivity to art\, his career truly began during his time in college and has expanded into a portfolio of loud visuals and melodies of color on canvas. His eye for vibrancy and textures brings a unique charm to Native art\, portraiture\, and abstract art.
