SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Amy Huser & Chuck Dooms
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Amy Huser & Chuck Dooms\nOpening Reception | First Friday March 7th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through March 23rd\, 2025. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nAMY HUSER \nWhen you think of play\, what comes to mind? Do you think back to when you were a child\, or do you think of your life right now? I remember growing up playing outside in the evenings\, I would get lost in the silliest things …. Organizing sticks on the ground\, making patterns in the sand\, or collecting as many roly-polies as I could find. As we grow up\, we often get caught up and forget that play is important still. \nIn my work\, play is a process. This process can look like embroidering variations of a line or carefully placing pieces of gold leaf one by one. In both\, there is an order\, but a freedom to just roam as I go. The repetition of mark making calls back to the inclination to organize nature around me when I was a kid. In adulthood\, this repetition has a meditative quality that is my way of working out all of my thoughts and letting go — creating something beautiful and light. \nSee more of Amy’s work online at https://www.amyhuser.com/ and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/amyhuserart/ \nCHUCK DOOMS \nI started doing photo manipulation and digital painting about 10 years ago. An early diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease prompted an early retirement. \nTo be honest\, I started playing around with my little Android phone’s painting apps. I started by taking pictures I’d taken with the phone and digitally manipulate them and add digital paint. My process has changed since I invested in a much larger tablet. \nThe theme hasn’t changed much. I make what appeals to me. Whatever it might be. A few years ago\, I had DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery. This has given me much needed control over the tremors that I experienced. I’m not cured\, but it was a game changer. \nI’m often reminded of a quote attributed to the late\, great David Bowie;\n“Aging is an extraordinary process whereby you become the person you always should have been.” I hope he was right. \nI took up this silly little obsession because I wanted to. I keep doing it because now I have to. I owe so much to the Wichita art community. They opened their hearts to me and made me feel a part of that community. The work you see is my open love letter to them. \nDue to health issues this will be my last showing. Thank you for all the love\, support\, and encouragement. Thank you. \nSee more of Chuck’s work online at http://www.chuckdooms.com or on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chuckdooms \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Kinta McGhee
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Kinta McGhee with special extended showing of Amy Huser & Chuck Dooms\nOpening Reception | First Friday April 4th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through April 20th\, 2025. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nKINTA MCGHEE \nFor the past few years\, Februllage has been a cornerstone of my creative practice. Februllage is an Instagram art challenge held each February\, a month-long exploration of collage\, shaped by daily prompts and the spontaneity they inspire. \nWhat began as an exercise in discipline and discovery has deepened into a true love for the medium\, allowing me to refine my voice through paper\, texture\, and found imagery. \nThis collection marks a milestone: for the first time\, I am offering the original works for sale. While I have previously shared these pieces as limited edition prints\, this show presents them in their raw\, tactile form—their layers\, edges\, and imperfections fully intact. Each collage is a reflection of a fleeting moment in time\, captured and reassembled into something entirely new. \nI invite you to explore these works\, to find your own connections within them\, and to celebrate the unexpected beauty that emerges when fragments come together. \nSee more of Kinta’s work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kinta_mcghee/ \nSpecial extended showing of Any Huser & Chuck Dooms \nSee more about Amy & Chuck here: https://arthouse310.com/event/amyhuserchuckdooms/ \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Kelly Rundell & Michael Davenport
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Kelly Rundell & Michael Davenport\nOpening Reception | First Friday August 1st\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through August 24th\, 2025. \nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nKELLY RUNDELL \n\nSometimes artists present deep\, moody work with a message that can change the world. But that’s not me. The only message I can relay now is that it’s okay\, even necessary\, to seek out lightness\, happiness and fun\, no matter how dark things seem to be. \nSo\, welcome to my garden party! Because we have a shared understanding of what nature looks like\, my art is immediately recognizable. My goal is not to be precise or realistic. Rather\, I make joyful representations of flowers. Working with acrylic paint and ink\, I fill paper with unique designs and color. I then cut the painted paper to create individual petals\, leaves and other shapes. Like a jigsaw puzzle\, I try different combinations and placements of the pieces. When it comes together\, I have wildflowers–with the emphasis on wild. I find the process messy\, but fun. And\, importantly\, the final art makes me smile. \nSee more of Kelly’s work on Instagram: @kellyrundellart \n\n\nMICHAEL DAVENPORT \n\nHave you ever thought about the layers of yourself — the parts you show the world and the ones you keep tucked away? My work invites you to explore those layers\, both in the art and within yourself. Through color\, abstraction\, and vulnerability\, I aim to create space for emotional honesty\, connection\, and reflection. \nAt the heart of my work is the relationship between masculinity and vulnerability. I often depict physically strong men in tender\, emotionally exposed situations to reflect the way I experience and process my own feelings. These figures disrupt traditional expectations of strength\, revealing that real power can come from authenticity and emotional depth. \nI work primarily in mixed media\, using physical layers to echo the complexity of human emotion. Idioms like “falling in love\,” “being held down\,” or “protecting your heart” are explored both literally and metaphorically\, offering viewers familiar entry points into nuanced emotional terrain. Each piece slowly unveils a part of myself that words alone can’t quite express. \nQueer iconography plays a vital role in my practice. I incorporate symbols\, gestures\, and references drawn from queer history to honor those who came before me and to build a bridge between past and present. This is both a personal act of remembrance and a way of connecting with today’s LGBTQIA+ community — creating art that feels both rooted and relevant. \nRecently\, I’ve embraced abstraction more fully — letting bright colors\, mark-making\, and shape exploration bring joy and immediacy to the work. There’s something satisfying in this visceral\, almost childlike play\, which helps me express what’s difficult to say out loud. Blending realism with abstract elements lets me move between control and freedom\, structure and release. \nSubtle humor\, double meanings\, and whimsy are woven throughout my work. These elements encourage curiosity and connection\, drawing viewers in while inviting deeper engagement. As a queer polyamorous man\, I create from personal experience\, but with the goal of amplifying underrepresented voices — especially in conservative spaces. By sharing stories through art\, I hope to foster understanding\, celebrate emotional truth\, and honor the beautifully complex experience of being human. \nSee more of Michael’s work online at MichaelKDavenport.com or on Facebook and Instagram: @micdav87 \n\n\nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Taylor McQueary & Yulla Faun Vega
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Taylor McQueary & Yulla Faun Vega\nOpening Reception | First Friday September 5th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through September 21st\, 2025. Art House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita.\nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nTAYLOR MCQUEARY \n\nArtist Bio: TayFiveStudio is the creative expression of Taylor McQueary\, an artist and high school art teacher from Wichita\, Kansas. \nTaylor embarked on her creative journey at the University of Kansas\, initially delving into the realm of industrial design. However\, her passion for the fine arts led her to refocus her studies. She pursued a Master’s degree in education at Wichita State University\, specializing in art education\, which equipped her with the tools to inspire young minds. In 2019\, Taylor began her professional career as an art teacher\, where she has been able to continue her own creative explorations while nurturing the artistic talents of her students. \nAs an educator\, Taylor firmly believes in the reciprocal nature of learning\, valuing the insights and inspirations that her students offer. Encouraged by her students to exhibit her work beyond the classroom\, she was motivated to establish TayFive Studio as a platform for her artistic endeavors. \nTaylor’s artwork has been displayed in various art exhibitions\, attracting praise for its vibrant energy\, visual impact\, and use of color. Her dedication to her craft is evident in each carefully crafted piece\, capturing the essence of her artistic vision. Through her expressive and dynamic artworks\, Taylor aims to captivate audiences and spark meaningful connections through the power of visual art. \nArtist Statement: Most of my current work is inspired by the interaction of opposing elements\, specifically shape and color. I find great inspiration in the unique perspective of flowers portrayed by Georgia O’Keeffe. Her ability to capture the essence of the flower has greatly influenced my artistic approach. \nIn my paintings\, I aim to create harmony between the soft\, organic qualities of the flower and the structured lines. I believe that color plays a vital role in achieving this balance\, as it has the power to bring these elements together and enhance their dynamic interaction. My goal is to harness the expressive potential of color to create a visually captivating experience for the viewer. \nWhen it comes to my artistic process\, I tend to rely on intuition and emotion rather than extensive planning. The selection of the main colors for the background is usually the starting point for each painting. Recently\, I have been exploring different compositions with lines\, using my background in design to guide the sizing and ratios of each line. I am meticulous in my approach\, ensuring that each line interacts harmoniously with the others. \nWhen choosing the colors for each line\, I seek out bright hues that will create a striking contrast against the background. This deliberate use of color adds depth and dimension to my work\, further emphasizing the interplay between shape and color. \nFor me\, the value of being an artist lies in the joy and fulfillment I find in the creative process itself. Each painting reflects the culmination of my knowledge\, skills\, and experiences\, as I continue to grow and develop within my craft. I view my artworks as a tangible representation of my artistic journey and a testament to the dedication and passion I bring to my work. \nThrough my art\, I aim to evoke emotions\, stimulate thought\, and invite viewers to immerse themselves in a captivating visual experience. By embracing the interplay of shape and color\, I strive to create artworks that transcend the boundaries of traditional representation\, capturing the essence of the subject in a unique and expressive manner. \nSee more of Taylor’s work on Instagram: @tayfivestudio \nYULLA FAUN VEGA \n\nFlight Safety and How Not to Drown has as much to do with navigating a collapsing economy as it does sustaining a solid place to live. It relates to the struggles of existing paycheck to paycheck\, house to house\, or couch to couch for those living on the edge of collapse. \nFlight Safety is in reference to fleeing one situation to the next\, in hopes the new circumstance is better. Many of the artworks use personally developed symbol from the artist’s own previous situations and struggles. Flight became synonymous with fleeing a deteriorating home space to another\, to another\, to another… and so on. The scissor tail flycatcher\, the Oklahoma state bird\, has transformed into a symbol of hope for the future\, an escape and refuge in another place outside of Kansas. \nHow Not to Drown is the idea and dream of being okay\, despite the looming fear of full homelessness or becoming forgotten. It’s the thought of “maybe another place is better”. Sometimes\, seemingly\, the unknown or the ‘ocean’. The ocean being full of the unknown\, and yet we remain hopeful this space is better than the last\, that it’s the oasis that’s been advertised. \nTransitional homelessness is the central idea of these works. It doesn’t mean fully homeless\, but it does mean lacking a place to settle and call home. Upon conversing with many people in this situation\, the question arises – is this a problem creatives face in particular? \nIn order to help each other navigate these situations it is more important than ever to develop small communities and networks in which people mutually support and check in on each other while we all learn to ask for help – sometimes over and over. \nAbout the Artist: Jessica Vega was born in Wellington\, Kansas and had always wanted to become an artist. She navigated a lonely childhood\, due to selective mutism. This\, in turn\, made her develop a high sense of creativity. As an adult she accidentally married into a cult – this ended in divorce as she escaped with a baby to Wichita in the pursuit of working as an artist and exploring life more fully. She worked for years as a portrait artist\, then in organ donation\, then as an aerialist. After studying at the Kansas City Art Institute and Cowley College she went on to go through the Artist Inc program and is a certified project manager. She now works as an artist\, a teacher at Mark Arts\, and a project manager for a local community events. Recently she has changed her name to Yulla Faun Vega. \nSee more of Yulla’s work online at yullafaun.com on Instagram: @edwardfaunart\, and support at patreon.com/ProjectDoe \n\n\nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday –Shawn Delker & Lisa Coogias\nOpening Reception | First Friday October 3rd\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through October 26th\, 2025. \nSHAWN DELKER \nFiber artist Shawn Marie Delker learned the joy of sewing from her mother beginning at age five and has been stitching ever since. She began quilting in 2000\, and she soon discovered art quilting. \nShawn’s art has been juried into galleries in Topeka\, Omaha and Albuquerque\, and she is a frequent exhibitor at many local galleries. She received the third-place prize at the 2017 Fiber Arts Fiesta in Albuquerque\, New Mexico\, and in 2024 she won First Place in “Kansas Through the Eyes of an Artist” at the Carriage Factory Gallery and Best of Show in the NOTO Fiber Arts Passion’s Exhibition and again in 2024 was awarded People’s Choice at the “Music and Memory” exhibit at NOTO’s Morris Gallery. Her latest exhibit was a solo show titled\, “On the Edge” at the Vernon Filley Art Gallery. Her art is represented at the SNW gallery in Manhattan Kansas. \nShawn’s current work uses an embroidery technique she is developing in which she “paints with thread” on her sewing machine. Her technique is unique to her\, and she continues to experiment to create new ways to create shape\, form\, and texture with thread. Much of the work shown at Art House 310 is botanically printed silk which she created from plants in her garden and then appliqued on her machine embroidered bird. \nSee more of Shawns’s work online at ShawnDelker.art on Facebook: @shawn.delker \nLISA COOGIAS \nMy work is rooted in the landscapes of the subconscious.\n\nDreams often guide my imagery\, surfacing colors\, shapes\, and forms that carry meanings beyond what I can put into words. Abstraction allows me to express emotions and experiences that resist direct explanation\, while portraits ground that inner world in human connection. Each piece is an attempt to give shape to the unseen. They transform fleeting\, hidden feelings into something tangible and shared.\n\nSee more of Lisa’s work on Facebook: @olivia.endive and on Instagram: @lisacoogias\nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

Show hangs through November 22nd\, 2025. \nROBIN DANKS \nRobin Danks is a visual artist based in Wichita\, Kansas. After a decades-long career in healthcare\, she embraced art as her full-time pursuit\, developing a practice known for its bold textures\, vibrant palettes\, and experimental mark-making. Working across acrylics\, India ink\, and mixed media\, Danks challenges traditional boundaries while grounding her work in instinct\, imagination\, and expressive freedom. \nSee more of Robin’s work online at DanksyArt.com on Facebook: @DanksW3CreationsRobyn and on Instagram: @danksy.art.studio \nLINDSEY MCFARLAND \n“A Story In The Details” \nI began drawing when I was a kid—mostly cartoons\, sketching playful characters like Donald Duck\, Scooby Doo and Winnie the Pooh\, or creating my own comic strip stories. Art became a way for me to retreat into my own little world\, a space where I could disconnect and dream. That’s where my love for art really took root. \nAs I got older\, I explored different mediums\, but I always found myself coming back to drawing with a black pen. There was something captivating about the boldness and simplicity of using a single pen—the way it allowed me to create with such clarity. It wasn’t until my late twenties that I finally found my own style. It all began with drawing pet portraits. I played with different techniques like scratch methods and textured shading. Eventually I stumbled across stippling\, and something just clicked! \nThrough hours and hours of shading (and patience)\, I build my stippling drawings dot by dot with a .005 sized pen. I prefer the smaller sized pens to get as much detail as possible. Organic materials are my usual subjects; fur\, bone\, or plants. Going back to my childhood\, I try to capture an “old storybook” energy with my drawings. As simple as these drawings may be\, there is always a hidden story behind the creation of them. A single stippling drawing can take anywhere between 20-100 hours to compete. I am also a pet portrait artist by commission\, check out my website or my Instagram page for my full portfolio. \nWhen I need a break from the tedious stippling\, I use linocut and print making as my secondary creative outlet. My linocut prints are a bit more abstract. I transfer these drawings onto linoleum\, then carve and chip away at the surface. It satisfies a creative urge I never knew I had\, and using different colors and paints makes the process feel more playful and relaxed compared to stippling. \nI use both styles to reflect the full range of who I am\, with a lot of precision and meticulous work. Creating pet portraits is something I’m deeply proud of\, but my original work is where my personality shines — a little dark\, a little whimsical\, and a little shadow of what I love the most\, to create. \nSee more of Lindsey’s work online at doodles-n-ink.square.site on Facebook: @doodlesnink and on Instagram: @doodlesnink \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Dominique Joiner & Angie Evans
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Dominique Joiner & Angie Evans\nOpening Reception | First Friday December 5th\, 2025 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through December 21st\, 2025. Art House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nDOMINIQUE JOINER \nDominique Joiner (b 1988 Wichita\, Kansas) uses her chosen mediums of acrylic and oils to identify the experience of women in a male dominated society. Dominique has observed the lives of many women from several walks of life and uses the influence of these women to relay her narrative. She uses the ideals of sensuality and affection to draw the viewer in and coaxes them to become more aware with riveting details and underlying messages. Dominique has a goal of pressing women to gain more ipseity\, regardless of the rhetoric they are taught to the contrary. \nIpseity starts with awareness\, the doorway to change. Many of the artist’s paintings directly depict the chosen problem\, with no offer of a solution\, forcing the viewer to digest and relate. The use of golden accents is meant to show a sense of majesty and divinity that women carry\, regardless of the situation\, be it vulnerable or powerful. As the gateway to life\, women deserve to be viewed as such. Dominique’s art will encourage individuals to search inwardly and come to peace with their feelings. \nSee more of Dominique’s work on Facebook: @DomiiiJo\, on Instagram: @domiijo\, and on TikTok: @domiijo \nANGIE EVANS \nI am an ocean-lover at heart\, forever captivated by the calm and power of the sea\, yet living in a land-locked state that makes me long for its presence. This new body of work is my way of reconnecting with that feeling of peace and renewal that only the ocean brings. Each piece is an exploration of rhythm and stillness\, created through layers of acrylic\, ink\, and resin that echo the slow movement of waves and the reflective shimmer of sunlight on water. \nAs the resident artist and owner of Art House 310\, this series marks my first complete body of work in nearly three years\, and it feels like a return to self. After a hiatus to complete college degrees that were started more than two decades ago and focus on uplifting other local artists within the walls of Art House 310\, I wanted to explore capturing the essence of the ocean\, not as a place\, but as a state of being. The soft blues\, teals\, and whites drift together to create a sense of depth and serenity\, offering a space for both reflection and calm. My process is intuitive\, guided by emotion and memory rather than structure\, allowing the materials to move naturally and form the patterns of flow that remind me of tides and shifting sands. \nEach painting invites the viewer to pause\, breathe\, and feel the quiet strength of the sea. The glossy resin surface reflects light and space\, transforming with every glance\, much like the ever-changing horizon. This collection is a love letter to the ocean and a reminder that its tranquility can live within us\, even when the nearest shore is far away. \nSee more of Angie’s work online: ArtHouse310.com/angie-evans\, on Facebook: @AngieAwesomePants\, on Instagram: @AngieAwesomePants\, and on TikTok: @AngieAwesomePants \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Amy Herrmann & Samantha Gales
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Amy Herrmann & Samantha Gales\nOpening Reception | First Friday February 6th\, 2026 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through February 22nd\, 2026. \nAMY HERRMANN \nReflections of a Life\, Well … Lived. \nI’m not an easy person to know. I’ve never mastered the art of small talk and have trouble shaking off the world news of the day. But my art usually centers around more optimistic glimpses of beauty that I find in the shadows and reflections of my surroundings when my guard is down and I’m content (often when sunshine and beer are involved). There’s nothing particularly deep about the subjects or themes in any of my work. They’re mostly snippets of my immediate surroundings\, usually with my loved ones just out of view. I’ll never be a serious portrait artist\, a fact that has been reinforced by the laughter emanating from my family at my recent attempts to capture them in pastels. \nI received my BFA at KSU. I work mostly in soft pastels and acrylic paint. I use only my own photographs as source material. I used to feel guilty about applying filters to my source photos but that has ceased after seeing how AI is changing the entire art world. Still not sure if I’ll embrace it or fight it tooth and nail\, but I guess that’s a discussion for another day. For now\, I lean on a few digital conveniences to make choices about composition and color. I enjoy making decisions about how much texture to add and with what material can best achieve an effect. \nThis show has pieces that span about 35 years\, though most have been finished in the past 5. Not much has changed from my early work\, same fascination with what might be revealed in a window’s reflections\, what it feels like to brush my hand along chipped paint\, delighting when I see glass that’s old\, wavy\, and imperfect. I’ll leave it to the viewer to decide if these represent a life well-lived\, or a life\, well…lived. \nSee more of Amy’s work on Facebook: @amy.herrmann.art \nSAMANTHA GALES \nTwenty-Six \nSam Gales is a mixed media artist based in Wichita\, Kansas. She specializes in illustrative\, stylized self-portraits that explore her journey as a young adult. Her Twenty-six series brings together both new works and earlier pieces that reflect her playful\, lighthearted nature. Across her practice\, Gales is drawn to the delicate balance between the macabre and the bright—creating imagery that is at once fun\, playful\, and subtly unsettling. In this series she does touch on some heavier themes\, so viewer discretion is advised. \nAn age that most should be expecting change\, and big events. Twenty six; one should be focusing on financial security\, finding a stable job and starting a retirement fund\, possibly a 401k. Twenty six; looking forward to the future! \nBut wait… No. \nThat’s not fair. I didn’t even get a chance. Why’s everything falling apart? Why is everyone leaving? Everyone’s moving away…well\, we’re adults aren’t we? I’m so behind\, I can’t keep up. Nothing feels like it’s ever enough. \nThat’s life\, they say.\nGrow up\, stop crying.\nPeople age\, everyone’s dying.\nLife’s hard and everyone struggles\nBut why does it feel like my workload always doubles?\nIt’s hard to stay afloat when the goal post is ever changing.\nAnd seeing my peers soaring only makes me regret my aging. \nI use humor to distract from my reality\, that being Twenty-six isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. \nAs I navigate my way through this difficult year\, here’s to hoping\nTwenty-seven\nDoesn’t end in a pap smear \nSee more of Samantha’s work online at samgales0279.wixsite.com/gales-art\, on Instagram: @gales_art_\, and on Facebook: @samawesomegales \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Brooke Schutte & Deber
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Brooke Schutte & Deber\nOpening Reception | First Friday March 6th\, 2026 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through March 22nd\, 2026.\nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nBROOKE SCHUTTE \nMy name is Brooke\, I am a 25 year old artist originally from Colorado. I was raised in a very strict\, dominating\, and isolating religion and have struggled with a complicated relationship with interpersonal connection\, mental health\, and generally society as a whole. Very early on in my childhood\, I found a voice in art. More so\, a purpose as well. The people around me didn’t want to hear me speak\, they didn’t value my voice.. But the pretty picture I drew – that was considered valuable. \nAs I grew older and experienced life in a more raw and unfiltered way\, I realized art was no longer what I thought it was: Realism\, landscapes\, still lifes. Art could be edgy\, it could be problematic\, and it could make my mom very uncomfortable. \nBeing a self taught artist\, I never identified with one genre or medium. Rather\, I always just pursued what spoke to me at the time. \nFor this show\, I chose to speak on mental illness and addiction. Something that in recent years has been at the forefront of my life. When conceptualizing this show\, my idea was to keep the subject matter light and playful – humorous and easy on the eye. Exploring the juxtaposition between a sensitive topic like alcoholism or PTSD\, while displaying it with bright vibrant\, even whimsical imagery. \nI stuck with two mediums\, marker and acrylic but did not necessarily commit to one style or point of view. I’d like to think my voice and personal method speaks clearly through each piece. And hopefully the audience will be intrigued to divulge into introspection while they view the work. \nSee more of Brooke’s work on Instagram: @masticated.gum \nDEBER \nMy work centers on compositions that blend traditional realism\, abstract expressionism and letterform abstraction. Mix media as a preference: Acrylics\, Oil\, Enamel mixtures\, Spray paint and Airbrush are used to create layered compositions that evoke emotion\, movement\, and tension. \nA core focus of my work lies in bridging the worlds of professional muralism\, portrait painting\, fine arts and Graffiti. \nMy canvas work serves as an extension of my street practice\, offering a different format through which to explore similar ideas with nuance. For me\, art is not a means to an end\, it is the end itself. Through each piece\, I invite the viewer into the emotional landscape and visual rhythms that define my voice as a well rounded contemporary artist. \nSee more of Deber’s work on Instagram: @deber614 and on Facebook: @deber614 \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants

SUMMARY:Art House 310 First Friday – Chloe Cloud & Alexandria Olthoff
DESCRIPTION:Art House 310 First Friday – Chloe Cloud & Alexandria Olthoff\nOpening Reception | First Friday April 3rd\, 2026 | 6-10pm\nThis event is free to attend and open to the public. Show hangs through April 19th\, 2026.\nArt House 310 is located at 310 S. Laura. Two blocks SE of Douglas & Washington in downtown Wichita. \nNOTE: Open gallery hours throughout the exhibition are generally Tuesday and Thursday\, 6-9pm and Sunday\, 1-4pm. \nCHLOE CLOUD \nI am an interdisciplinary studio artist and graphic designer based in Wichita\, Kansas\, working across mediums to question how we assign value—what we cherish\, what we overlook\, and what we throw away. \nThis body of work began not in the studio\, but on quiet walks through my small college neighborhood. I started picking up scraps of litter—shards of plastic\, faded fabric\, fragments of packaging—with the simple intention of cleaning up my community. But somewhere between the sidewalk and my doorstep\, my perspective shifted. Among the refuse were unexpected colors\, compelling textures\, and strangely elegant forms. What I first dismissed as trash began to reveal itself as material—full of potential\, history\, and character. \nI became fascinated by the tension between discard and desire. How might I challenge the narrative of worthlessness attached to these objects? How could I elevate what had been abandoned? \nIn response\, I began pairing found debris with thoughtfully curated vintage clippings. By manipulating scale and employing optical illusion\, I transform these fragments into imagined fashions\, theatrical silhouettes\, and expansive landscapes. A scrap of plastic becomes couture. A twist of wire becomes architecture. A fragment of packaging becomes terrain. Through collage and assemblage\, the overlooked is recast as aspirational\, playful\, and powerful. \nThese small rubbish sculptures have redefined my creative practice. They invite me to slow down\, to notice\, and to honor the overlooked. What began as an act of cleanup has become an act of re-seeing—finding beauty in what was once discarded and joy in the act of transformation. \nSee more of Chloe’s work on Instagram: @wasted.wonderings and @chloecloud.design \nALEXANDRIA OLTHOFF \nI am a full-time artist\, born and raised here\, shaped by both staying and leaving. I’ve lived in and moved through places around the world\, but my work has always been about coming back to myself—my instincts\, my values\, my anger\, my softness\, and my truth. \nI am celebrating! I am also tired as hell and looking for a new life balance while on a journey of diving in\, learning and growing. \nEvery piece here comes from a portfolio I built over two years of obsessive focus\, discipline\, doubt\, and stubborn belief. This is the work that got me my tattoo apprenticeship. It didn’t happen by accident. It happened because I showed up over and over again and refused to quit. This exhibition is both a celebration and a threshold: honoring the discipline and devotion that brought me here\, while opening the door to a new direction in my creative life. \nAnimals show up again and again in my work because they don’t lie. They carry power\, vulnerability\, protection\, survival\, and instinct without apology. Alongside them live themes of justice\, acceptance\, feminism\, queerness\, and representation. Sometimes my work is an open heart. Sometimes it’s a middle finger. Often it’s both. \nI make art to say the things I don’t always have words for. To share my inner world. To carve space for softness\, rage\, humor\, grief\, desire\, and a very clear fuck you / fuck it / fuck all when needed. Anything gay\, anything defiant\, anything honest belongs here. \nTattooing is not a departure from my art practice—it’s an evolution. I’m not abandoning painting or creating. I’m expanding. I continue to accept custom work and pet portraits\, now with longer timelines as my schedule shifts. \nI dance when I can. I travel the world with my husband. I disappear into home when I need to. All of it feeds the work. All of it shows up here. \nThis show is about persistence\, transformation\, and choosing myself—again and again—until it finally paid off. \nSee more of Alexandria’s work online: linktr.ee/alexandriaolthoff\, on Instagram: @alikatart7\, and on Facebook: @AlikatArtBiz \nwww.ArtHouse310.com\nFacebook | @ArtHouse310\,  Instagram | @ArtHouse310\, TikTok | @AngieAwesomePants
