Announcing the 2022 WBJ Marketing Awards honorees

Wichita Business Journal 2022 Marketing Awards

The Wichita Business Journal is ready to introduce its third class of Marketing Awards honorees. These awards recognize Wichita-area marketing professionals who excel in making their company or organization look and perform its best.

Marketing professionals utilize strategic planning as an effective way of promoting a message or brand to customers and the community. They build high-performance teams around them. They lead in devising strategies that maximize the return on investment for the company. They also exhibit a strong corporate social responsibility and are involved in the community.

The WBJ has honored 58 people in its first two classes. This year’s class will be recognized at an Oct. 18 luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, and you can read their profiles in the Oct. 14 print edition of the WBJ.

Angie Evans, Wichita Business Journal 2022 Marketing Awards Honoree

ANGIE EVANS | CREATIVE DIRECTOR & MARKETING STRATEGIST | WSU TECH

Why did you want to focus on marketing? Marketing and business always intrigued me. The idea that I could own my own business doing something I love as well as create the entire look for the business was exciting. Growing up, I would remember brand jingles and recognize logos. I loved great design in packaging and would gravitate toward those companies who did design and branding well. It fed my artistic side, and I could see direct results that impacted the business side.

What are your professional responsibilities? I oversee all the brand and visual direction for WSU Tech in addition working with my team to develop the overall strategic marketing plan for the college including all website design and strategy, internal brand training, Google paid search, online analytics and more.

What has been your greatest professional challenge? My greatest ongoing challenge is being able to balance being a self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur and having so many things I’d like to accomplish in my lifetime with taking the time to slow down and take life in, enjoy my family and friends, and not get too overly wrapped up in the never-ending to-do list.

Who was your most important mentor and what was their best advice? I’ve had several unofficial mentors in my career and have taken bits and pieces from them all. What seems to stand out the most is the general idea to embrace the adventure of the unknown, make time to laugh, and learn from everything.

Best advice for someone who wants to be in marketing? Don’t be afraid to take calculated risks in your work. Experiment, explore and have fun.

What is your top professional achievement? The best is still to come, but if I had to choose, following my dream to open an art gallery. Art House 310 opened in June 2020 and has provided a space for monthly First Friday art shows and has featured over 100 local Wichita artists to date.
