Art House 310 Expands Art In The Community With A Newly Installed Community Art Box
Wichita’s newest visual art center, located in the Douglas Design District, is giving back by adding a Community Art Box.
What: Art House 310, Wichita’s newest locally and woman-owned visual art center, opened in June of 2020, is installing a newly built Community Art Box at their Douglas Design District location to give access to art supplies to the community. This outdoor Community Art Box will be located at Art House 310 and will be free and open to anyone in the community. Our close to downtown gallery provides a central location for those needing supplies. Using a “take what you need, leave what you can” model, we hope this community art box will be utilized by anyone of all ages and all skill levels in Wichita.
The Community Art Box will be supplied with new, unopened art supplies for aspiring artists of all ages. These supplies will vary depending on what has been taken and what has been donated. A general list of supplies can be found on the Art House 310 website at https://arthouse310.com/community-art-box/.
When: The Community Art Box will be installed in late February/early March 2021.
Where: Art House 310, 310 S. Laura, Wichita, KS 67211. Art House 310 is two blocks SE of Douglas and Washington in downtown Wichita.
Information: Art House 310 as a dream in the making. Purchased in 2019 and opened during a pandemic in June of 2020, the once old warehouse has been completely renovated to become a space for art exhibitions, workshops, group shows and, in the future, private rentable resident artist studios. With the pandemic causing hardships on nearly everyone, the owners of Art House 310 wanted to give back by providing access to art supplies to those in our community who may not have the resources otherwise.
“We believe in Wichita. We believe in art, and we believe some of the best talent is right in our back yard. Art House 310 is a space for visual artists with a mission to help expand the arts in Wichita. This Community Art Box helps us to do just that.” said Angie Evans, Owner and Resident Artist at Art House 310.
Our vision for Art House 310 is to help artists, both emerging and seasoned, have a place to exhibit and sell their work, learn best practices, and build a strong network of artists in our community. We strive to be a resource for Wichita by hosting art workshops and exhibitions that are free and open to the public. Giving back to the community is just one way artists can enhance their overall contribution to society and pave the way for future local artists. Anyone can help by donating new, unopened art supplies of all kinds, to keep the Community Art Box stocked. Art House 310 will do a call for donations of art supplies a couple times throughout the year, but you can donate at any time by contacting Angie at info@arthouse310.com.
